After cutting the wire about 12 to 18 inches longer than the length of the espalier, one end is crimped around a screw.
After the wire is threaded through the posts the first end is screwed in about an inch below the hole. Then another loop is crimped around a screw at the other end, after cutting the wire to allow only about 8 inches.
The second end is screwed in at a 45 degree angle. The wire should have some spring to it, tight, but not too tight, after it is screwed in.
