Self Fertile Sweet Cherries

Vandelay 

(Located E1, O4, Planted 2003) A delicious, large black self fertile sweet cherry that resists cracking and is somewhat bacterial canker resistant. An excellent pollinizer for other varieties. Very flavorful and reliable. 

Lapins 

(Located E1, 04, Planted 2003) A self fertile delicious sweet cherry with large dark red fruit that are crack resistant and somewhat canker resistant. A consistent and heavy bearer. A best bet for our area. 

Black Gold 

(Located E1, R4, Planted 2003) Large deep red, almost black, large sweet cherries. Very productive. Self fertile. From New York fruit testing. 

White Gold 

(Located E1, S4, Planted 2003) A large red cherry with a yellow blush with excellent flavor and production. From New York fruit testing. Self fertile. 

Glacier 

(Located E1, S4, Planted 2003) Very large, sweet, dark red fruit. Self fertile. Very good crack resistance. 

Sweet Cherries Needing a Pollinizer

Kristin 

(Located E1, 04, Planted 2019) The world’s hardiest popular sweet cherry but the extra hardiness doesn’t matter in our area since all the varieties we have are hardy here. Crack and somewhat canker resistant. Has large flavorful fruit. Needs a pollinizer.

Rainier 

(Located E1, P4, Planted 2003) A highly productive large sweet cherry prized for its unique crisp flavor and yellow skin with a red blush. In our climate it cracks if it rains when it is ripening. Needs a polllinizer. 

Angela 

(Located E1, Q4, Planted 2003) One of the first varieties successfully grown at the Mt. Vernon station. It oversets and produces large quantities of smaller red fruit with excellent flavor. Needs a pollinizer. 

Hartland 

(Located E1, R4, Planted 2003) A large, heavy-bearing, flavorful attractive dark red cherry. Hartland is resistant to cracking and rot. Its fruit ripens and blooms mid season. It needs a pollinizer. 

Hudson 

(Located E1, R4, Planted 2003) Firm sweet dark red cherry that is crack and rot resistant. It is very late ripening, extending the cherry season by two weeks. It needs a pollinizer. 

Early Burlat 

(Located E1, R4, Planted 2003) The earliest ripening sweet cherry. It produces fruit a week or two before any other cherry. It needs another sweet cherry as a pollinizer. 

Tart Cherries Self Fertile

Danube 

(Located E1, S4, Planted 2003) From Hungary where delicious tart cherries have been grown for centuries. It is a “Duke” cherry which means a cross of sweet and tart cherries. It is tart, dark red, but delicious eaten fresh or used in baking. 

Surefire 

(Located E1, Q4, Planted 2003) A surefire choice for the home grower. It is late flowering, tolerates frosts and annually produces large crops of fire engine red, crack resistant fruit. The small but abundant cherries are sweet and tart and is enjoyed eaten fresh or for cooking. The tree is a natural dwarf with a compact habit. 

Montmorency 

(Located E1, Q4, Planted 2003) The classic pie cherry. A beautiful upright tree fully loaded with bright red fruit.
