Filbert Varieties

Our fruit garden varieties are described below:

McDonald

(Located E3, T4, Planted 2018)  A highly blight resistant, very productive cultivar with a high nut meat to shell ratio. It ripens early in the season and is a mid-season bloomer.  It is an upright open grower to about 10 feet tall.

Wepster

(Located E3, T7, Planted 2018) This reliable heavy producer is a vigorous open shaped tree requiring little pruning. Developed for the chocolate industry it has good rich flavor. It blooms in mid season and ripens early in the season. It’s named for the pioneer Oregon filbert grower.

Burgundy Lace 

(Located E3, S11, Planted 2019) Leave room in your landscape for this beautiful burgundy cut leafed blight resistant filbert bred by Oregon State U.  Reddish purple almost oak shaped leaves adorn this 10 foot tall upright shrub It is adorned with red catkins in the winter. It also can produce a few tasty nuts when pollinized.
